The Students First Center strives to maintain effective communication between its staff and the students at UC Merced. In an attempt to provide students with this service, the SFC's very own student assistants have begun blogging, tweeting, and posting about their undergraduate experiences at UC Merced. If you're considering attending (or if you currently attend), please spend a few moments browsing through their pages and seeing UC Merced life through their perspective as well as informative social media pages to offer a wealth of information to any student on campus.

Kendall Wright

 

"I’m a 3rd year Student Assistant for the SFC majoring in Political
Science. I have an interest in communications and promotion and I
utilize that skill in various clubs on campus including BSU and Speech &
Debate. Outside of school, I’m really into R&B music specifically, but
I’m a connoisseur of various types of music. I play tennis in my free
time and wish I would have started playing earlier in order to possibly
go pro. I love it."

 

Will Torrez

 

"As a registered junior and a Cognitive Science (B.S.) major, I can
offer a unique perspective on what its like to attend UC Merced. I have made it my goal to work with individuals that suffer from cognitive disabilities. Because of this, I hope to attend a doctorate program in physical therapy for neurological disorders. Aside from these goals, my passions lie in music and the culinary arts. I am an active member of the UC Merced Chorale and plan to volunteer at Mercy Medical Center in the fall. Feel free to ask me anything about Merced and the surrounding area and I will make you aware of why UC Merced is the University of California’s best-kept secret."

 

Breann Nix

 

"I am a third year student, proud first-generation college student. I’m a Sociology major, Public Health minor hoping to one day become an Urban Planner. I hope to study abroad in Barbados and one day live outside of California, preferably Georgia or Illinois.  I’ve been involved with many clubs on campus, mainly Black Student Union and Distinguished Ladies, both of which I love.  I am an animal lover, mostly cats but everything else is fine by me.  Great cook, friend, and all around person to be around!"

 

 

Michael Lomio

 

"Hello, I am Michael Lomio.  Around campus you will be hearing people call me Mike, Michael, Lomio, or if you're really close to me; Lomes.  I am a 2nd year political science student hoping to double major in economics.  I am also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon as well as the Democrats Club, and enjoy working on outside projects like the Adam Gray for State Assembly campaign, LoveMerced, and other various volunteer opportunities.  Whether the sun is hidden or shining, I always attempt to keep it positive.  More often than not you will see me with my brothers of SAE and if you have any questions you can approach me at any time.  PS: my favorite colors are blue and white with a dash of purple and gold."

 

Natalie Williams

 

"I am a Junior this year and an Applied Math major here at UC Merced! I
am super excited about becoming a well-known social media source of
information about the university & its many events! You may see me around
campus either studying, playing softball or attending club meetings!
This semester, more so than any other, I will be treating the
campus like my second home, so PLEASE come talk to me; I will be happy
to chat with you about UCM deadlines and updates. Outside of school, I
enjoy crafting, watching reality TV and being childish... so I will be
happy to chat with you about the latest bachelor pad episode too! FOLLOW
